I agree 100% with everything you just wrote!!!
It’s truly amazing how much one can learn by building. I’ve learned more about circuits and motors and give the credit to open source sites like the tube. I just picked up a electric scooter (the two wheel type)which was left out for a free pick and was told it was dead….Not anymore

the amount of energy being wasted by converting the energy stored in the battery to mechanical energy in order to produce electricity for the light is ridiculous…. cool but for the fact that it is powered by a battery.

why connect the motor to the battery in order to turn the coil and produce electricity to light the LED, when you could just connect the LED to the battery? I don’t get it.
