The difference is very noticeable and the generator doesn't seem to be running any hotter at all. I cut two vents in the top just to be safe. You are correct it will put more of a load on the Gen- The best thing to do is see if there is a different muffler from the Man- to make it more quiet. Also There is 1 thing you can do. If you can get a new muffler to extend from the one on the gen you can do this but only if the new muffler has No Restriction 100 free flow. Also you do not want to build a box around it either. You can do this only if there are vents to let the new air in and bad air out. This will bring down the sound a bit. But be carefull Most units are air cooled and you dont want to restrict it. GL
