The Generac Guardian Ultra Source 12,500-watt portable generator is an industrial-grade machine intended for use in the home, on the job-site, or anywhere heavy-duty use and maximum horsepower are required. It is built with a powerful 26 HP 760 cc OHVI V-twin overhead valve industrial engine that is air-cooled, quiet, and efficient; the engine system also features full-pressure lubrication and automatic idle control to protect the engine and save fuel. The 150-percent surge capacity to 18,750 watts offers extra motor-starting capability, and the large 16-gallon fuel tank allows for an extended run-time of up to 10 hours at half load. I have only tested the unit using a very light load but it seems to work very well. The auto idle feature kicks in instantly when a load is presented. The unit does have a tendancy to idle up & down slightly when no load is present but runs smoothly when a given a load. It is very quiet when running (compared to other 5kw generators). I am converting my unit to run tri-fuel ($397 extra from USCarbs.com) since this thing can guzzle gas like an SUV at full load and after Katrina hit, gasoline was being rationed out at $20 a visit. With a 16 gallon tank $20 will only fill it to half a tank. I also opted to interface my generator with a manual transfer switch which allows me a little more flexability than the automatic transfer switch and cheaper installation. There’s several electrical outlets and wiring options on the generator panel. I don’t give the unit 5 stars since a true Gaurdian phone customer service/tech support doesn’t seem to exist. If it needs service you must contact an authorized Generac/Gaurdian dealer in your area for service and 99.9% of the time if you did not buy the unit from them they are reluctant to help. At best you may opt to have an authorized dealer install your transfer switch which may obligate them to help you if your generator requires servicing.

I would reccomend this generator to anyone as it performed flawless for three and a half day of use while I had no power.
